Who we are
Para Cleared ("we," "us," or "our") publishes an educational guide to parasites at paracleared.com (the "Service"). The Service is for general information only and is not medical advice. By using it, you agree to this policy.
The short version
You can read every page and use every tool without giving us any personal information. We have no user accounts and no logins. The interactive tools save their data in your own browser, not on our servers. We only receive personal information if you choose to send it, for example by subscribing to our newsletter or contacting us.
What we collect
Information you choose to give us. If you subscribe to our newsletter or use a contact form, we receive the name and email address you enter, plus any message you write.
Information saved on your device. Tools such as the trackers and calculators store your entries in your browser using local storage. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser.
Basic, privacy-friendly analytics. We use cookieless analytics to understand which pages are popular in aggregate. This does not use tracking cookies and does not build a profile of you.
Server logs. Like most websites, our host records standard technical data such as IP address and browser type for security and reliability. See the Cookie Policy for more detail.
How we use information

Legal bases (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for newsletter emails, and on our legitimate interests in keeping the site secure and understanding aggregate usage. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We share information only with the service providers that make the site work, and only as needed:
- Vercel, our hosting provider, which serves the site and provides the cookieless analytics
- Klaviyo, our email provider, which stores newsletter subscriptions (only if you subscribe)
- Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces and may receive your IP address as part of loading them
We may also disclose information if required by law. If the project is ever transferred to new ownership, we will give notice before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
Data retention
Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages you send are kept only as long as needed to handle your request. Anything stored by the tools lives in your browser until you clear it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete any personal information you have given us, and you can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in every message.
EU and UK users (GDPR) also have the right to data portability, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
California users (CCPA/CPRA) have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.
Canadian users are covered by Canada's federal PIPEDA and, in British Columbia where we operate, the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). You may access and correct your personal information and withdraw consent at any time. If you have an unresolved concern, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Security
We serve the site over HTTPS and rely on reputable providers. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we keep the data we hold to a minimum on purpose.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
